Boat Building & Repair Eliot, Maine, USA David V. Miliner - Shipwright 207-439-4230 Serving the North East USA since 1977 |
We are well equipped to handle any structural or cosmetic repairs that your boat might require. However the damage may have occurred- a mishap on the water, storm related, or deficiencies due to the wear and tear that can develop in older boats- we can return your boat to a safe and reliable condition. We have extensive experience in all aspects of fiberglass maintenance, upgrade, and repair. |
| Sample Project 1: This section is a 28' Cape Dory sailboat that came off of it's mooring during a late summer squall back in 2003. We temporarily removed a section of the fiberglass interior liner to gain access to the most heavily damaged area from the inside; cut out the area of the solid glass hull that had cracked through; built up a strong fiberglass patch on the inside as well as adding some core in that area to provide stiffness; re-built the laminate on the exterior of the hull; re-installed the liner sections; and repaired all the surface defects as well as rebuilding the rudder which had been heavily damaged. Rather than repainting the entire topsides the owner choose to have us re-gel the repaired areas and repaint the boot stripe. | ||

The fiberglass settee has been removed in that area as well and will be re-installed after the repair is completed. | 28' Cape Dory - The bulk of the repair work has been completed and the area is ready to for gelcoat resurfacing. |
| Sample Project 2: This section shows a newly purchased Catalina 36 that was in our shop last spring. We did a core replacement job to the starboard sidedeck in the area of the chainplates and then applied a rolled non-skid to the entire lower deck area using KiwiGrip- a hard acrylic polymer developed in New Zealand. While the boat was in our shop we also rebedded a good deal of the deck hardware as well as installing new teak handrails, a new set of dorade cowls, and a new double anchor roller system on the bow. | ||

| Sample Project 3: This rudder belonged to a marine surveyor friend of mine, John McDonough, it is from a 26 Bombay Express, and had seen better days when he brought it to me. | ||
